About

In 2021, I started a series of videos called "ADHD Home TV" on TikTok. The videos followed how I made my first apartment work for my ADHD mind. Practically overnight, my world turned upside down as my account took off and I was launched into the world of "NYC influencer" life.

I want to clarify that I always wanted to create content and work in new media, but never had the end goal of being an "influencer." I initially moved to NYC for school, hoping to become a notorious (morally neutral) reporter for NPR. Still a college student, I made a video documentary on a TikToker/Realtor who took me under her wing, and I started to help create videos for her while still in school. My nineteen-year-old dopamine-seeking self was in my element, and I hit the Manhattan sidewalks running. (I am being literal. Aside from content creation, my main job at the time was running around the city taking pictures of available units. So much of my success can be accredited to the example my old real estate mentor set for me.)

I knew I had to monetize, but I hated how influencers go about it... especially when it has to do with the mental health niche. I would avoid brands for the smallest reason. This approach was as righteous as it was fiscally stupid, and my moral dilemma drove me to create this business.

I want to fund my work without selling out more than I feel I already have. This store, Shop vs. the Void, is meant to carry mental health merch that you would actually wear/use. No, you won't find the word "neurospicy" here either, as I don't think that phrase is useful (at all.) This store is meant to say what you wish you could to explain your mind. After years of being told that no one can "read my mind," I decided to put what's going on in there on a shirt.

Any support helps me keep my hands clean as a content creator in the mental health niche and is so very beyond appreciated. Thank you for supporting my work/content (and for giving me faith in strangers.)

-Katie

(P.S., I'm currently living at my parents' in Michigan to devote all my time/energy to doing this right. That's correct, I walked away from macro-influencer life for this. I hope my actions accurately convey just how determined I am.)
